What does the Friends of the Library do?
The Clarksdale Friends of the Family is a non-profit organization that helps the Carnegie Public Library by making the public aware of the local library and the services that it provides to the community. It is also is up to the Friends of the Library to encourage donations, gifts, endowments and bequest. With these monies the Friends can increase the services and facilities of the library .
The Friends of the Library also raises money through membership dues and fundraisers. With these monies the friends can provide special programs and projects , help provide extra resources for the library that are not in the operational budget for the library , sponsor special projects and provide other services that may be helpful to the library.
The Board meets once a month at the library . Current board members include Reubin Smith, George Walker, Charles White, Charles Reid, Lois McMurchy, Kelly Connell, Sarah-Crisler-Ruskey, Nathan Harris, Steven Jossell, Jane Longino, Florine Miller, Babs Sweat and Virginia Schafer. Missie Craig , Executive Director of the Carnigie Library works closes with the board to communicate information and library needs.
